Happy Holidays to all! Brian and I had a fantastic Christmas. It began with having the Smith Clan over on Saturday. We had a wonderful time and Brian received the snorting pig! Colleen went home with the prized wooden duck, securing her spot in the Smith Family forever! Brian and I then headed to NJ where my parents threw us an engagement party and we got to see some of my family that we haven’t seen in a while (or ever, we met Parker (Dave and Christa’s son) for the first time!). Christmas was joyous and wonderful as always. Little Benjamin loved his Grand Piano and Radio Flyer. He will have a lot of fun with both of them. The little grand was purchased in New Hope in an antique shop the day after Lelia’s wedding. Brian haggled with the shop owner and twisted my arm. (I thought it was too big for a present.) But, I am sooo glad Brian made sure we bought the piano, as little Ben is going to be a Super Star Pianist (with Brian’s instruction, of course!). We then headed to Gram’s house in Westfield to enjoy the day with the rest of Brian’s family. It was so nice to see everyone and spend some time with Leah and the kids, who I didn’t get to chat with enough when they were up before Christmas.
Brian and I finally finished the last of the risotto (not including the 5 containers that we froze!) last night. Mac can attest, I made way too much risotto! We made mushroom risotto for the pre-Christmas party and had plenty to eat that night (for 15 people), had risotto with my parents on Christmas eve (and left a bowl there), and served some at Gram’s house and left a bowl there. It’s safe to say I made more than enough risotto.
Now, on to the venue search: We have officially ruled out getting married on Mother’s day. Willowdale, although close to perfect, is off the beaten path and quite a distance for both the Jersey and Westfield folk. We were informed this morning that Zuka’s booked today for the May 12 date, so that is out, too. Although none of the previous looked at venues have worked out, we found one that may just work (and be perfect!): The Publick House in Sturbridge. They have a good date: July 12, 2013 and they have a pretty nice space. Brian and I are going to have lunch there on New Year’s Day and put their food to the test. We’ll let you know as soon as we decide!
Have a wonderful New Year!
Love and Holiday Hugs,
Kate and Brian
